With SEO, you won’t know for months to come, however, with a PPC campaign, you might be able to see results in a few minutes.
I have seen this time and time again. In my SEO consultant company, some clients will give me a list of keywords they want me to optimize their site for because they THINK they will convert to more sales. The lesson to learn here is to KNOW which keywords convert to sales before you start your SEO campaign.So, before you start an SEO campaign, verify that they keywords you are optimizing for with transfer visitors to buying clients.
The first thing I always do, no matter which website I am dealing with, is to begin with PPC and then focus on SEO. These two campaigns are a packaged deal, no matter how well I (or my client) may think which keywords convert into sales.
When setting up your PPC, split your campaigns up by keywords so at the end of the campaign, you can isolate which keywords worked and which didn’t. Once you have your campaign setup, make sure you set it for “Exact Match”. Your goal here is to know the exact combination of words used to find your site and purchase your product or service. You might even find out that the keywords you thought where going to bring you the most traffic and sales don’t.
